Friends of First Run:

"Friends of First Run" works in conjunction with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation to ensure the maintenance and continual financial support of the Tompkins Square Dog Run -- the largest off-leash dog park in New York City.

"Friends of First Run" initiates community action by organizing volunteers for clean ups, landscaping and the general care of FIRST RUN. We also published a monthly newsletter called THE SCOOP and work to educate the public on responsible dog ownership including spaying and neutering.

Each summer we organize dog run workshops and a lecture series hosted by some of the country's foremost experts on animal behavior. We also promote safe handling inside and out of the run and serve as a link to various animal rescue organizations when a dog is lost or abandoned.
